Driven by global carbon neutrality and environmental policies, the material handling equipment industry is accelerating its transition toward greener solutions. The penetration rate of clean power systems, including electric drive and hydrogen energy, surged from 18% in 2022 to 27% in 2023, and is projected to exceed 40% by the end of 2025. Electric forklifts have been particularly prominent, accounting for 65% of sales in 2023—a 20-percentage-point increase from 2020. Hydrogen fuel cell material handling equipment is accelerating pilot deployments in ports and large warehouses, with annual production growth exceeding 30%. Internationally, the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism requires exporters to provide full lifecycle carbon emissions data, further compelling the industry to build green supply chains.
